Mentor for SROP program designed to recruit minorities into science
Project Dates: - present
Description: SROP is the summer research opportunities program and is sponsored by the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC). The CIC is a consortium of 12 research universities, including the 11 members of the Big Ten Conference and the University of Chicago. I have or will be mentoring minority undergraduates from OSU and other universities. This summer I am mentoring a student from Puerto Rico.

Description: I am working with DOn Yehling to develop a molecular biology-based laboratory module for students of his advanced biology class. This module will engage students in an internationally funded project to analyze the transcriptome of murine cytomegalovirus. We anticipate implementing this module for the 2008/2009 school year.

Description: I am the priniciple investigator on an international project with the University of Rijeka, Croatia to analyze the murine cytomegalovirus transcriptome. This includes training two Croatian students working towards their doctoral degrees.
