Clinical Interest

Pharmacology of Large Animals

Biographical

I am a graduate Veterinarian (1987) with post-doctoral training in large animal medicine and surgery (Academic internship and residency) that pursued advanced research training in an NIH funded basic research laboratory. I received my doctoral degree in 1997, and obtained my first academic appointment in 1998. I have been in academic clinical medicine for my entire career (1998-2014). I am board certified in Veterinary Internal Medicine of Large Animals (1997), and recently completed the requirements for board certificaiton in Veterinary Clinical Pharmacology (2014).

My clinical appointment is currently 50% clinical duties, with a 50% administrative, teaching and research appointment. The research I am pursuing involves lung inflammation, bovine respiratory disease and pharmacologic modulation of inflammation. My laboratory has studied biomarkers of neutrophil activation and developed assays to monitor neutrophil biomarkers in cattle with respiratory and other inflammation.
