Dr. Mangino is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Medical Director of the Department of Clinical Epidemiology for the OSU Health System (OSUHS). She joined the faculty in July 1995 after completing residency and fellowship at the University of Alabama, Birmingham.

Special Interests
Dr. Mangino's clinical interests include nosocomial and fungal infections. Her research interest is in prevention of healthcare associated infections through antibiotic stewardship and advocating compliance with evidence based medicine to decrease risk of infection. Most recently, she has authored the OSUHS Clinical Practice Guideline for Prevention of Surgical Site Infections, and provides succinct grids for the Operating Room staff on appropriate antibiotics and timing. She is a fellow in the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) and a reviewer for Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology and a member of the Mycoses Study Group (MSG). Dr. Mangino established a web site on the OSUHS Intranet so Clinical Epidemiology policies and procedures are readily accessible. She has been active in disaster preparedness and was recently selected to 2005-2006 Best Doctors in America.®
